    Vehicles in this world, like any other object, can be be possessed by spirits. This makes unconventional, strange and impossible vehicles effective and accessible to every member of the population with access to material. 

    The area the story takes place is highly populated and extreme in it's geography, so vehicles in the environment are diverse to meet the challenges of traversal. 

    These exceptionally unrealistic designs are only possible with the help of spirits possessing the chassis, vehicles are designed to fit the spirit's personal needs. This manifests as entire vehicles being designed in the shape of a spirit's incorporeal form, but cheap people and spirits sometimes settle for a simple mask on the front of the vehicle so spirits can see at the very least. 

    Vehicles could even be made out of hay and still move like a motorized car with suitable assistance from spirits. However spirits do get very tired from this, and must be fed in the same way one would feed a pet, essentially making them living vehicles. 

    How do spirits eat you ask? With their mouths. And their stomachs.
