Story: There's this village that lives in a very cold, harsh snowy/mountain like terrain in which every few years a few people are sent out to get supplies/resources
The protagonists (one volunteered one is forced) goes out to get the supplies but halfway they run into some sort of creature/monster who is killing all the herds and who they must defeat while protecting their supplies
Backup 1: A creature known to be beautiful, regal, and compassionate (that the society worships) turns out to be quite the opposite as the protagonist runs into one while exploring
Backup 2: An overworked office worker finds an object that allows him to live very realistic dreams as an escape, but his escapes slowly make him lose sight of reality.
