Daye - Final Presentation + Pitch!

Pray They Rest in Peace
Elevator pitches:

Story: This story is about a father named Alwi, who loses his family and village to a devastating flood, and starts to live a life of isolation and depression, tending to the flooded graveyard where his family is buried. He is accompanied by a serpent spirit who he names To, his only friend. The silent atmosphere one day takes a turn when his buried family start rising from the dead with malicious intent, and Alwi must decide to put them back under the ground, fighting them with To, choosing spiritual balance over his personal wishes.

Character: The main character, Alwi, is a struggling man in his late 50s, who has lost everything, and must see it be taken away from him all over again. Alwi used to be an experienced dancer for family ceremonies, but now with no one to dance with, he utilizes his dance piece as a visual distraction when going against his undead family members. He uses an incense shovel as his main weapon.

His companion, To, is a spirit shaped like an eye wrapped within multiple striped snakes.

Vehicle: The gondola I designed is Alwi's main form of transportation. I decided for a design without sails, as the story setting is in a flooded graveyard, with no strong wind to push against the sails. It has a carved wooden face attached to the back of the vehicle, serving as a warning sign for any evil that attempts to ambush Alwi somehow. This vehicle is also used for resting and storage.

Environment: I designed an environment that would be a key location for the climactic fight scene. Being a father, Alwi took alot of pride in his children, and took extra care for his youngest child. The environment is the sacred sepulcher of that child, protected by stone snakes that were summoned by To. However as the blue shrubbery starts staining a sinister red, and blood leaks from the gravestone, Alwi realises his precious daughter has been awoken too, and he has to be the one to kill her.
